Nutrition and exercise are essential parts of an athlete's professional life. While some are regular ones with hardcore training, others try to maintain normal daily exercises.

For soccer legend Lionel Messi, the 35-year-old still looks as young as ever, maintaining his physique with a good diet and workout plan.

The Argentina star, however, is not a heavy lifter and follows a regular workout plan. He doesn't follow a rigorous exercise plan like his archrival Cristiano Ronaldo.

Known for his speed and agility, Messi has good upper-body strength and works out on strengthening it, starting with basic movement exercises like lunges, hamstring stretches, and pillar skips

Other workout routines include split squats, skipping ropes and hurdles for leg muscles, acceleration drills for pace, and skipping past hurdles and obstacles to maintain his agility.

Under the guidance of nutritionist Giuliano Poser, Messi has maintained his health with 5 basic key foods in his diet: water, good-quality olive oil, whole grains, fresh fruit, and fresh vegetables.

With consumption of sugar, refined flour, and meat limited to Messi, his dinner specialty is an Argentine food called Milanesa, a thin fillet of beef that is shallow-fried in breadcrumbs, made by his mom.

Besides this, he has a favorite recipe in his diet: roasted chicken with root vegetables, the recipe for which was given out on social media. It seems the dietary and workout plans are in his favor.
