LeBron James and Carmelo Anthony share a long history together since 2003, when they were drafted and were considered the NBA's greatest rookies at the time.
LeBron and Carmelo may have competed against each other on the court for some time. However, it is also true that they were good friends.
Carmelo Anthony once experienced a life-threatening situation when he was on vacation with LeBron James and Dwyane Wade and all of them were sailing a boat in the ocean. Things were fine until the trio went scuba diving.
After returning to the boat suddenly, LeBron and Wade noticed that Melo was missing. while Melo got stuck alone in a potentially fatal position since strong ocean currents prevented him from swimming back to the boat.
It was such a risky situation that Carmelo would have drowned if LeBron hadn’t used his wits. LeBron spotted Melo and dove into the water to assist his friend right away.
Carmelo Anthony said: “I look up. The current is taking me in the middle of the ocean like opposite from the boat…I know, and it was windy and it was all types going through my head.”
Carmelo continued, “I’m gonna be honest with you. Then I see, I look up at the boat and I see, I see Bron jumps off the boat like he is Macgyver.”
Carmelo further said, “Yes exactly, he jumped off the boat into the water. He was bringing me back with one arm. He’s swimming with the other arm and he carrying me in one arm…”
He continued: “That was special, I can’t hold you, he saved my life. Yo Bron, I appreciate that, you saved my life that day. Them little flippers weren’t working for me.”
