Khamzat Chimaev Restrained in Russia, Passport Arrested

UFC's emerging star Khamzat Chimaev got his passport detained and has been held in St. Petersberg, Russia.

The report of the Swede star's passport confiscation came from a Brazillian MMA media outlet, Combate.

Chimaev is scheduled to be in Rio de Jenario, Brazil on October 6th for his guest appearance at a film premiere.

ESPN's reporter Brett Okamoto talked to Chimaev's manager Majdi Shammas who said that the report is not true.

"Khamzat is in Russia, but there are 'no problems' with any travel restrictions according to Shammas.", reported Okamoto via Twitter.

Chimaev was born in Chechnya, Russia but moved to Sweden at the age of 19. He is currently in Russia to see his family.

In the latest updates according to Okamoto, Chimaev will return to Sweden in the next two weeks and again start training.

Chimaev is the biggest upcoming star in the UFC. He has got six successive victories including five fight bonuses since his UFC debut in 2020.
