Kamaru Usman suffered a horrific KO loss at the hands of Leon Edwards at UFC 278 that saw him drop his UFC welterweight gold.

Leon Edwards became the first fighter to knockout Kamaru Usman and in the process, became the first ever Jamaican born UFC champion.

Usman was out cold after the brutal head kick that saw him drop directly onto the canvas, marking his first loss in the UFC.

Usman's close friend Khabib Nurmagomedov shared his thoughts on the loss and revealed he was both shocked and upset at what transpired.

“Honestly, I was shocked and even a little bit upset you could say." Khabib said after UFC 278. “But this is fighting, this is MMA, and you saw it yourself." He further added.

Nurmagomedov has long believed that a fighter is never the same after a brutal knockout, and feels the same once again with Kamaru Usman suffering a vicious KO loss.

Khabib added it will be "interesting" to see if Kamaru Usman can bounce back. Be that as it may, he also believes he can still beat Edwards in a rematch.

Can Kamaru Usman bounce back after the disastrous KO loss at UFC 278? Or will it be the same result in the trilogy fight against Leon Edwards? Only time will tell.
