Khabib Is Not Retired, He'll Come Back- Tony Ferguson Makes a Promise

In his press conference ahead of UFC 279, Tony Ferguson talks about Khabib's comeback from retirement.

Khabib vs Ferguson remains as the most anticipated lightweight fight in the UFC. Both the fighters have been booked to fight each other five times in the past, but the fight never took place.

"I am the one to get him out of retirement,” Ferguson said during UFC 279 media day. He further added that Khabib is not retired." 

Ferguson was supposed to challenge Khabib for the title in May 2020.  Justin Gaethje eventually replaced Khabib and won the interim belt/.

Khabib announced his retirement after beating Gaethje at the UFC 254 where he defended his title for the third time.

Ferguson also talked about him and Khabib being the coach in a reality show. He said Khabib is yet to accept the invitation.

Tony Ferguson will be coming back to the welterweight class at the UFC 279. He will be fighting LiJingliang in the co-main event before Chaimev and Diaz will take the center stage.
