Kamaru Usman Blames the Media For the Fall of Khamzat Chimaev

The MMA community is split after the fight between Khamzat Chimaev and Gilbert Burns at UFC 273.

Many were impressed with Chimaev's performance against a top contender in Gilbert Burns while many believe Chimaev was exposed at UFC 273.

However, the welterweight champion, Kamaru Usman seems impressed with Khamzat Chimaev's accomplishments so far.

In a recent interview with TMZ, Usman talked about Chimaev's UFC journey so far and stated: "Khamzat coming in, he's definitely showed - He's doing a great job. Props to the kid. He's done a great job with what he's been presented and the opposition. I take nothing away from him."

Kamaru Usman criticized the media and stated: "I think it's the media's fault. The media kind of builds you up and then they drop you the moment you don't live up to that. "

The champ even gave some priceless advice to Khamzat Chimaev after the recent criticism.

"If I had a word of advice for him it's just to not get caught up in that because it kind of seemed like that was starting to happen. Don't get caught up in that because not every day is your day. At some point, someone's going to come in and it's going to be their day,"- Kamaru Usman

Khamzat Chimaev beat a former title contender in his 5th UFC fight.

So it's needless to say that he has established himself as a legit title contender in the division.

However, if Chimaev plans to become a two-division champion then he can not show up with a similar game plan against Kamaru Usman or Israel Adesanya.

Khamzat Chimaev's size, strength, and wrestling will be a big advantage for him in the welterweight division.

However, that won't be there if he moves up to fight the UFC middleweights such as Marvin Vettori or Robert Whittaker.

What do you think about Khamzat Chimaev's future in UFC? Is he a future UFC champion?
