The UFC middleweight champion, Israel Adesanya, who recently claimed his title back from his rival, Alex Pereira, is slated to defend his title against #5-ranked contender, Sean Strickland.

Scheduled as the main event at UFC 293 in Qudos Bank Arena, Sydney, 'Stylebender' wants to create history as he wants to end the match via submission for the first time in his professional career.

Adesanya, with a professional record of 24 wins and only 2 losses, has 16 wins by knockout, eight via decision, and none by submission.

In an interview with TSN, Adesanya expressed how he wanted the fight to end. “I definitely just want to submit a couple of people,  “I’ve done the ‘Fight of the Night’ bullsh*t, it’s not for me."

"I’ve had shut-outs, I’ve had a loss, I’ve had a comeback, great comebacks. I think I want to showcase my grappling a little bit more, and just take some limbs, take some breaths away,” added Israel.

Discussing further the matchup, Adesanya explained how he thinks Strickland will look forward to a wrestling-heavy approach and try to mix it up.

"He’s doing this whole thing: ‘Man dance … man dance.’ He’s going to crotch sniff. That’s what he’s going to do. He’s got smart coaches and they will definitely beat it into him."

Sean Strickland, on the other hand, with 32 professional fights (27-5) in his career, is coming off a brilliant TKO victory over Abus Magomedov and has yet to face a setback via submission.
