Last weekend, the 16-year-old Barcelona winger Lamine Yamal became the youngest goal-scorer in La Liga history. Earlier that week, he became the youngest starter in the UEFA Champions League history.

Last September, Yamal also made his senior international debut for Spain. By scoring a goal against Georgia, he became the youngest goal scorer for Spain and also in a Euro qualifying match.

Last year, Yamal's goals for the Barcelona youth team went viral on the internet. Even at that stage, Spanish media brought a special nickname for him as "mini-Messi."

Yamal is a very cool finisher and has acquired outstanding dribbling and passing abilities. Apart from being popular as a winger, he can also play as a center-forward or an attacking midfielder.

Recently, the Spanish national team's head coach, Luis de la Fuente, praised Yamal and compared him with two Argentine World Cup-winning legends, Lionel Messi and Diego Maradona.

De la Fuente said about Yamal, "He has fantastic potential and conditions. We have to take care of him, he is young. But, do you remember when Messi or Maradona were 16 years old?"

Spain's coach further added, "We should not put limits on these good footballers. We must let them develop all their potential. That's what we're trying to do with this player here and at his club."

However, Barcelona club is reportedly unhappy with De la Fuente's early comparison between Yamal and Messi-Maradona. The club is eager to manage the expectations around the youngsters.
