Tom Aspinall had been ascending in the heavyweight rankings since signing with UFC in 2020. Despite his dominant winning streak, the Englishman was devastated by his 1st loss due to a brutal injury.

Aspinall suffered a buckled knee injury while fighting Curtis Blaydes last year. Aspinall fell quickly to the ground as he landed a kick at Curtis just 15 seconds into the match.

Curtis Blaydes was officially declared the winner via TKO. Aspinall has a 12-3 career record since his loss against Curtis Blaydes.

"I never thought it would happen in a fight, the weirdest thing about it was that my knee locked. That's happened a few times before, definitely, but it happened when I was grappling on my knees."

"It would never happen when I threw a kick. That was the first time it happened with a kick." Stated Aspinall. Tom intends to make a strong comeback to the heavyweight division.

However, Aspinall underwent physical therapy to get back on track, which he admits was a frustrating process.

"I'm not the guy with the bad knee anymore, And now that the fight is coming up, it's every interview, I can't wait to never speak about it again." Aspinall said.

Since the injury, Aspinall's mindset seems to have changed and improved. Aspinall will be looking forward to his comeback fight against Marcin Tybura
