How Much Money Did Dallas Mavericks Spend to Get Kyrie Irving?

The Brooklyn Nets are trading Kyrie Irving to the Dallas Mavericks for Spencer Dinwiddie, Dorian Finney-Smith, a first-round pick, and multiple second-round picks.

The Mavericks needed a second star along with Luka to be serious title contenders, and Irving certainly offers them that. Irving is one of the most talented players in the league, but he certainly comes with baggage.

According to sources, Irving is being paid a whopping $198 million salary over four years along with three future picks—ssecond-round picks in 2027 and 2029 and a first-round pick in 2029—in exchange for his services.

Irving will play his first game with his new team on Wednesday evening when the Mavs visit the Los Angeles Clippers in California.

Irving would give the Mavericks an elite ball handler who is no stranger to running an offense and playing off a ball-dominant superstar.

The eight-time All-Star has won a championship as a member of the Cleveland Cavaliers, and should now ease the tension off of Luka Doncic.

For now, Irving will join a Mavericks team with enough talent to help reach the finals in the crowded Western Conference, and the Nets will move forward without the point guard that has given them headaches for the past four years.

Irving gives Dallas a dynamic ball handler and a knockdown three-point shooter. His dribbling on court seems like a perfect match with Doncic but with Irving, there’s always more to worry about off the court.
