History! LeBron James Goes Past Kareem Abdul-Jabbar's NBA Record

LeBron James has become the NBA's all-time leading scorer, passing Kareem Abdul-Jabbar's record of 38,387 points, which lasted over 39 years.

Abdul-Jabbar initially broke the scoring record in April 1984, before LeBron was even born. "To be able to be in the presence of a legend and great as Kareem, it means so much to me," said James.

He broke the record with a 14-foot fadeaway 2-pointer in the late third quarter against the Oklahoma City Thunder.

Abdul-Jabbar was courtside and was smiling and clapping when LeBron dethroned his scoring record.

During the moment, Abdul-Jabbar came onto the court with NBA Commissioner Adam Silver and hugged James, wishing him congratulations.

Afterwards Abdul-Jabbar ceremoniously handed over the ball to James to recognise his new record in front of a huge crowd which came to witness history.

“I know I can play a couple more years, I can go out there and still help win multiple championships, or win a championship." James said after breaking Kareem's all time record.

The GOAT debate gets heated even more as LeBron James establishes him firmly as the number one all-time scorer. But for every person who believes that LeBron James is the GOAT, there are probably four others who'd say it's Jordan.
