Highest Paid Athletes: Roger Federer Dwarfs Serena Williams' Earnings

The greatest athletes in history have earned a lot of money whether they are retired or still playing. Michael Jordan still leads the list with an estimated figure of $3.3 billion.

Roger Federer appears in ninth place behind a series of champions such as Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi. He's the first tennis player in the list who earns around $1.8 billion.  

According to the list, the second tennis player present is Rafael Nadal in 28th ranking with an earning of $660 million. 

Serena Williams is the third one in the world of tennis players. She is in 38th position in the list of high paid athletes. She earns $600 million. 

The former Grand Slam winner, who has earned $95 million in total prize money for the WTA, has her off-court income through dozens of deals, with Nike, AT&T, Beats, Ford Motor, Gatorade, and Metro.

The sum is expected to be $590 million for the once active American tennis player. It rises to $575 million for the 22-time Grand Slam champion, but with a career still to continue. 

Throughout his illustrious career, Roger Federer was a more lucrative prospect for sponsors. Roger came in second among all athletes of the tennis world in sponsorship revenue.

The sportsman pursues fame and glory throughout their career but also pays attention to the financial side. In a long and prosperous career, an athlete can make huge sums of money.
