Former UFC number one title contender, Paulo Costa was scheduled to take on Robert Whittaker in the co-main event of UFC Perth PPV in 2023.

Unfortunately, this fight has been canceled after UFC fails to convince Paulo Costa to accept the fight as scheduled.

Paulo Costa recently said that he is not happy with the money UFC has offered him to fight the former welterweight champion, Robert Whittaker.

“I don’t have any deal with this fight. I want to do this fight but I don’t’ have a deal. UFC didn’t send me nothing, no contract. My payment is so low.”- Costa recently said about his fight purse.

“I have got the same payment since 2017. I have to fight the top 5 guys and I get money as a beginner, I have to fight I love MMA but I cannot just fight for love.”- Costa continued.

UFC Perth features a main event between Alexander Volkanovski and Islam Makhachev in a much anticipated super fight.

Robert Whittaker had an huge opportunity to put on a show for the fans in Australia after his disappointing KO loss against Israel Adesanya back in UFC 243.

This is not the first time UFC has faced issues with Paulo Costa over fight negotiations. Costa has been very vocal about leaving the promotion since his fight against Marvin Vettori.
