The Ronaldo-Manchester United fallout was one of the most controversial moments of 2022 from the soccer fraternity.

It all started after the Portuguese star bashed Man Utd.'s management in an interview with Piers Morgan for disrespecting him and not giving him the due credit that he deserved.

During the interview when asked bout ten Hag, Ronaldo said, "He doesn't respect the way I should deserve. But it is what it is. This is why probably, I left in the game against Tottenham, I left."

The Portuguese no. 7 also claimed that Erik ten Hag's purposely benched him in the matches against Manchester City and Tottenham.

A few days after the interview, Manchester United terminated Ronaldo's contract and set him free for violating the guidelines.

On the other side, Erik ten Hag gave an eyebrow-raising opinion on Ronaldo's mid-season departure and how it may change the team's dynamics.

Erik said, "I am not worrying. I sleep well also on those nights. I have to take decisions with respect in advance of the club and the team.

He further added, "that is my job and that is the responsibility I have to take." Even though the manager seems confident without Ronaldo, the recent 7:0 loss to Liverpool will surely ring some alarm bells.
