UFC lightweight Paddy Pimblett recently called out MMA journalist Ariel Helwani for not paying UFC fighters for their interviews.
Paddy Pimblett claimed that UFC fighters deserve to get paid for the interviews they do. And it seemed UFC president, Dana White agreed with Paddy's comments.
In his recent podcast, Paddy Pimblett and Dana White also called Ariel Helwani the worst journalist in the MMA community.
Ariel Helwani responded to Paddy's comments on his show, The MMA Hour and addressed the debate on paying the fighters for interviews.
Ariel Helwani stated that he would never pay fighters or celebrities for the interviews as it goes against the ethics of journalism.
"You want me to pay for interviews? That's not journalism. I ain't paying for s**t, That's now how this works. You don't pay for coverage."- Ariel Helwani stated.
"Does Joe Rogan pay his guests? Does Oprah pay her guests? Does Larry King pay his guests? No. That's now how this works"- Helwani continued.
Many fans seemingly agreed with Ariel Helwani in this battle and criticized Paddy Pimblett for asking to be paid for interviews.
