Dana White Fires Nate Diaz's Friend From UFC

UFC releases Nate Diaz's Protege Nick Maximov after a run of poor performances and multiple losses.

The 24-year-old fighter from Oregon signed with the UFC in June 2021. He had previously fought Dana White Contender series in November 2020 where he beat Oscar Cota in the heavyweight division.

Before entering the UFC, Nick Maximov had an unbeaten MMA record of 6-0. He made his MMA debut in 2018.

Maximov made his debut UFC debut in September 2021 at the early prelims of UFC 266, where he defeated Cody Brundage in a middleweight bout.

He is released from the UFC after his two successive losses this year. First in May and then in October.

His last fight was against the Australian Jacob Malkoun. Maximov was dominated throughout the fight and Malkoun was declared the winner by unanimous decision.

Veteran UFC fighter Nate Diaz's contract with the promotion also expired in September. He ended his career on a high with a win against Tony Ferguson.

UFC released 11 fighters in October, including middleweight veteran Krzysztof Jotko middle and former ranked light heavyweight Misha Cirkunov.
