Cody Rhodes recently won the men's Royal Rumble match after making his return from injury. He entered at the number 30 position and eliminated the Intercontinental champion Gunther to win the match.
The American Nightmare following the win has now received an opportunity to challenge the WWE Undisputed Universal Champion Roman Reigns at Wrestlemania 39 in April.
This made fans think that Rhodes is planning to bring back the old championship design if he is able to successfully dethrone the Tribal Chief Roman Reigns at Wrestlemania 39.
Rhodes gave clarity on the situation recently when he appeared on WWE's "The Bump" show. He admitted that while growing up, that was his favorite version of the belt and he wanted to have it.
He also said that he's not planning to change the current championship design and the social media post was just a "pipe dream" and he is not making any guarantees.
Rhodes in the past has also brought back a vintage championship design when he reintroduced the vintage Intercontinental championship back in 2011 while he was the champion.
It'll be interesting to see what changes will happen in the company under Triple H. Fans are really invested in the idea of bringing the old design back but it's unclear whether WWE will do it.
