With a power duo of Kevin Durant and Devin Booker, the Phoenix Suns have been an emerging franchise with players like Chris Paul, regarded as the best point guard of all time and a 12-time All-Star.

One of the most recent incidents that has caused quite a bit of speculation in the franchise was the news of NBA star Chris Paul being waived from the team.

NBA insider Chris Haynes tweeted the news - “Phoenix Suns have notified star, Chris Paul, that he will be waived, making the future Hall of Famer one of the top free agents this offseason.”

The decision to waive is said to have come after former LA Lakers coach Frank Vogel joined the Phoenix Suns as the head coach, replacing Monty Williams, who was a part of the 2019–2023 season.

Some suggest the reason for the waiver is the lack of a salary cap, with a projected amount of $134 million for the next season and Paul earning a hefty $30 million for the next season.

However, with the announcement of his release from the team, Chris is said to only receive $15.8 million for the next season, becoming an unrestricted free agent in 2025.

With the news of his waiver speculating, there have been suggestions for Paul's next franchise being the Lakers, linking his 2011 history of joining the team and playing alongside Kobe Bryant.

Talking about his lost chance for playing with Kobe, Paul said- "Kobe is just special. Me and Kobe was just wired the same. Had we got a chance to play together, I think it could have been fun."

Despite the failure, there seems to be another chance for Chris to come back and play with D'Andre Russell, Anthony Davis, or the legend LeBron James himself if he chooses to remain back.
