After signing a one-year $7.9 million contract extension with the Charlotte Hornets on July 2, Miles Bridges finally spoke out publicly in apology for the domestic violence incident of last summer.

Stating the repercussions, pain, and embarrassment caused to his team and family during an interview, Miles looks out to bridge back all his relationships with his Hornets teammates after his return.

Adding further, he also mentioned, "A lot of people don’t get a second chance, and I want to use this second chance to prove to everyone that I’m the same kid you drafted five years ago."

The domestic violence case of last summer against his partner, Mychelle Johnson, that kept him out for 82 games last season as an unrestricted free agent also received a 30-game suspension.

The charges came into effect after several bruised pictures along with a medical report, were released on social media by Mychelle herself, who described it as a traumatizing incident for their kids.

Facing three felony charges, Myles agreed to three years' probation and no jail time in exchange for 52 weeks of parenting classes, domestic violence counseling, and 100 hours of community service.

Coming out of a regular season averaging 20.2 points, 7.0 rebounds, and 3.8 assists per game in the 2021–22 season, Miles was the leading scorer for the Hornets in his fourth season.

For Hornets general manager Mitch Kupchak, "From a basketball point of view, putting aside the serious nature of what took place, we are excited to have him back. He had his best year two years ago."
