Angry Fan Hits Neymar With Popcorn After Brazil’s World Cup Qualifier

Brazil soccer fans are hugely disappointed with a 1-1 home draw against one of the lowest-ranked CONMEBOL sides, Venezuela, in the 2026 FIFA World Cup Qualifiers on Thursday (October 12).

While Gabriel set up the 1-0 lead for the five-time World Cup winners in the 50th minute, Eduard Bello equalized the scoreline in the 85th minute with a brilliant bicycle kick.

As Brazil earned one point from that game, they slipped to the second position in the CONMEBOL Qualifiers points table with 7 points in 3 games. Argentina are leading the points table with 9 points.

After that frustrating on-field result, when the Brazil team was leaving the field, a tub of popcorn was thrown from the stands towards the team.

That tub of popcorn hit Neymar's head, who was entering the tunnel. The Brazilian all-time record international goal-scorer was furious about that incident.

Angry and stubborn Neymar quickly looked up at the stands to find the culprit and shouted at the fans. However, he was quickly pulled away from that place.

Brazilian interim head coach Fernando Diniz felt the tub-throwing incident was disrespectful. Diniz later said, "It's disrespectful towards those who came to play and tried to do the best they could."

Like the Brazil team and fans, Diniz was also frustrated with Brazil's home draw result. He believed they could have scored more goals and shouldn't have conceded the late goal.
