A 22-year-old NBA player Tyrell Terry made his retirement from basketball, claiming despair and anxiety to be the main reason for his decision.

Tyrell Terry made his debut in the G League 2021. However, he recently revealed on his Instagram that he is quitting the game after playing through some of the "darkest times" of his life.

Terry wrote in his post, "Intrusive thoughts, waking up nauseous, and finding myself struggling to take normal breaths because of the rock that would sit on my chest that seemed to weigh more than I could carry".

He further added that the sport has caused him great anxiety but he is grateful for the fact that many doors have opened for him. He said that he can’t continue doing something with which he has fallen completely out of love.

Terry concluded by asking for an apology to those whom he has let down and also thanking the ones who understood him. He would choose a different path now that would bring him happiness.

The Dallas Mavericks selected him in the second round of the 2020 NBA Draft. He was also an outstanding player at his college, Stanford.

Tyrell claimed that anxiousness forced him to experience dark times and made him lose interest in the sport.

Terry spent the majority of his rookie season in the NBA's G League, appearing in just 11 games with the Mavs. He also temporarily signed with the Memphis Grizzlies before being released prior to the 2021-22 season.
