Stephanie McMahon and Triple H’s duo is arguably the most loved couple in WWE history. From working together in epic on-screen storylines to being together in real life for over two decades, they are probably a match made in heaven.
But their love life has also seen a lot of obstacles, and one of them was Stephanie‘s relationship with a WWE legend, which was a trick against The Game. It was in the initial years of their dating, when Kurt Angle was involved in a love triangle with the couple in 2000.
The Olympic Gold Medalist revealed that his romantic on-screen storyline with Vince McMahon’s daughter was a result of his friendship with The Billion Dollar Princess. Angle said, “We didn’t have an attraction. We had a good friendship and we were attracted to each other in that way.” (Via: Sportskeeda)
Moreover, the legendary performer shared that his involvement in the storyline was a trick to make Hunter jealous. Revealing why he was chosen for the role, he said that the Stamford-based promotion wanted to have an upcoming guy in the love angle.
While it was true that Kurt was used to making The Game insecure on screen, in real life, the 14-time WWE Champion was pretty cool about it. Their storyline was a very entertaining one, as the fans got to witness exciting storyline development throughout their high-profile rivalry.
Kurt Angle wasn’t comfortable in his romance angle with Stephanie McMahon
WWE played a trick against Triple H by associating Stephanie with Kurt, but it didn’t sit well with Angle. The reason being that the Olympic Gold Medalist wasn’t comfortable in his romance angle with The Billion Dollar Princess.
The 4-time WWE Champion revealed his discomfort about this storyline during an episode of The Kurt Angle Show. In his show, the 54-year-old talked about the famous kissing segment with Triple H’s wife and how it was uncomfortable.
The actual reason behind all this was that Mr. McMahon was directing their lip lock. Expressing how he felt while doing that kissing segment, Angle said, “It was weird. It was very uncomfortable. Vince, not only was he directing, he was literally two feet away from us.”
Speaking further about the bizarre moment, the 6-foot-tall legend shared that Vince’s presence made the scene really awkward. Despite the bizarreness, the segment worked well for the love triangle storyline they were involved in.
The feud between Hunter and Kurt was a legendary one, and such moments played a major role in it. Will we ever get to see these three together on WWE TV again? Only the future knows, but if they do appear, it’ll be a great moment for fans.
