SUMMARY
- CM Punk made an appearance on WWE TV on the recent episode of Monday Night RAW.
- During his promo on the red brand's recent episode, CM Punk made a reference to the Jack Perry brawl.
CM Punk and Drew McIntyre have been two of the most entertaining characters in WWE in recent memory, as their ongoing rivalry has given fans numerous memorable moments. In addition to their battle of words on TV, both of them have also been pretty vocal on social media by taking continuous digs at each other.
Something similar happened on the recent episode of RAW, as Punk was able to make it to the show despite being trapped at WWE Headquarters for a long time. The Straight Edge Superstar entered the arena just moments after Drew’s exit, and CM then went to the ring for a passionate promo against McIntyre.
During the segment, The Second City Saint took a number of shots at The Scottish Warrior, and while doing so, he made a reference to his AEW run. Giving a reference to the Jack Perry brawl he had in All Elite Wrestling, CM Punk said, “Because you’re a choke artist. Not like how I’m a choke artist Pat (McAfee). Two very different things. Punk’s getting ZERO reaction to Jack Perry choke reference, only proof that WWE fans don’t even have a clue what the fu*k AEW is 😭

I can bet the majority of them think that Punk is back to wrestling after a decade.#WWERaw pic.twitter.com/F1xWndKKBg
It must be noted that The Straight Edge Superstar was accused of choking Jack during the backstage altercation they had at the All In event in London. Despite his attempt to refer to the brawl saga, The Straight Edge Superstar didn’t receive a reaction from the live crowd, and it probably hints that not many of the audience members aren’t aware of the backstory behind the whole incident.
WWE Fans had an underwhelming response to CM Punk’s dig at AEW
As soon as the veteran’s dig at AEW received an underwhelming response on WWE RAW, fans started sharing their reactions to it on social media. Sharing the reason behind such a response, an audience member wrote, “We simply just don’t care anymore.” (Via: X)
Hinting that a lot of people in the crowd may not understood the backstory behind the reference, someone said, “I thought it was about his MMA career.” “Burying jack off perry is always a great thing,” another pro wrestling enthusiast commented after CM Punk’s promo segment on Monday Night RAW.
CM Punk vs. Drew McIntyre is arguably the best ongoing feud in WWE
Fans giving an underwhelming response to the reference was surprising for many, but a potential reason behind it could be the storyline he is currently in. CM Punk vs. Drew McIntyre is arguably the best ongoing feud in WWE, and that’s probably why the crowd wasn’t too impressed with his dig at the Tony Khan-led promotion.
Even though The Straight Edge Superstar has been out of action since his match at Royal Rumble 2024, he has still managed to contribute to the company through his aura and incredible mic work. McIntyre’s heel persona has also been revolutionary, and it’s safe to say that these two are bound to fight each other in a highly personal encounter in the near future.
“If you make me go to Glasgow, Scotland, I’m gonna be hiding in a ball of haggis and break your face.”

Man, I am so ready for the eventual CM Punk vs. Drew McIntyre feud to officially come to fruition. 👏👏#WWERaw pic.twitter.com/qHwxvEktAw
With Drew being pulled out of the King of the Ring tournament because he was not medically cleared, there’s a chance that his next opponent could be Punk. As WWE is set to go to The Scottish Warrior’s home country for Clash at the Castle, it’s possible that the company books CM Punk vs. Drew McIntyre at the PLE. If that’s what the plan is, the fans are in for a treat at the event in Scotland.
