Bronny James is inching closer to the moment of truth. The 2024 NBA Draft is just around the corner and James is completely banking on having a future in the league. However, many scouts believe that he isn’t ready to compete in the professional environment. However, the 19-year-old has had a couple of great workouts with teams such as the LA Lakers and Phoenix Suns.
The former USC Trojans guard was recently seen putting in some extra work alongside his father. Bronny also performed fairly well during the draft combine which in turn caught the interest of a few other teams like Minnesota, Dallas, and Toronto, according to his agent Rich Paul. Right now, Bronny is projected to go No.55 to the Lakers as per ESPN.
LeBron James works out with Bronny and Bryce for the upcoming Paris Olympics
Bronny James was also joined by his father and younger brother, LeBron James, and Bryce Maximus. LeBron Sr. is currently preparing to play for Team USA Basketball at the 2024 Paris Summer Olympics. This might officially be James’ last appearance with the national team as retirement isn’t too far away. The 4x NBA Champion will be joined by veterans like Steph Curry, Kevin Durant, and Anthony Davis as well.
Bryce Maximus was also seen having a great workout and his jump shot is as smooth as it can get. The 17-year-old has one more year left in high school before he makes the biggest decision of his life. Bryce is projected to become a top-tier recruit too, as many experts also believe he might be better than his elder brother.
NBPA President CJ McCollum wants nothing but the best for Bronny James
After all that’s said and done, Bronny James is currently at the mercy of the scouts as they will decide whether he gets a shot at the NBA or not. However, veteran guard and current President of the NBPA CJ McCollum recently shared his thoughts on Bronny. He said, “I’m honestly rooting for him, man. He’s a good kid, he comes from a good family where he’s learned a lot about himself. He’s learned a lot about the sport.”
He added, “And obviously, he loves and admires the game and he really just wants to be a part of the NBA. And I think for him it’s patience… he’s going to come in and learn, it’s going to take him time to develop and he’s going to grow depending on the situation and what franchise takes him. I want people to just be patient with him.”
The 2024 NBA Draft is scheduled to take place at the Barclays Center on the 26th and 27th of June. ESPN will be airing the first and second rounds of the draft while ABC will stream only the first 30 picks.
