Amid the shocking withdrawal of Noah Lyles, promptly known as the ‘next Usain Bolt,’ Christian Coleman earned victory at the Xiamen Diamond League in the category of men’s 100-meter race. Since the COVID upheaval, this is the first time in four years that China has hosted the premier one-day series.
Coleman was ahead of Jamaican Kishane Thompson, who earned a silver with 9.85 seconds to finish the track. While Coleman thrilled everyone at the Egret Stadium in Xiamen by finishing in just 9.83 seconds. And bronze was earned by the American 2022 World Champion, Fred Kerley, who recorded 9.96 seconds.

Coleman recorded a time to finish the race equal to the world-leading time recorded by Noah Lyles in 2023. “It hurts a little bit but I knew what I was capable of doing and I knew what I was ready to do,” Coleman added, contemplating his efforts.
The Italian Lamont Marcell Jacobs, who hadn’t properly raced since his victory at the Tokyo Olympics, finished seventh at the Diamond League.
Men’s 100m really thrilled the stadium as Coleman powered to the front at the very beginning of the race and continued to maintain his position by leaving behind Thompson by a mere two-hundredths of a second, and Kerley finished third. The next Diamond League series is scheduled in Brussels on September 8 and will end in the United States with the finals in Eugene, Oregon, scheduled for September 16-17.
Noah Lyles decided to end the season for him
The American Sprinter Noah Lyles announced the end of his season on Friday. It was just a week after Lyles caught the sprint treble at the World Athletics Championships.
This means that the prominent Noah Lyles would not participate in the final race of the Diamond League, which is scheduled for September 16-17 in Eugene, United States. Lyles shared a post on his X account, writing, “And with that, I say goodbye to the 2023 season!” The post also included three checked boxes: “World’s fastest man in 100 & 200; 2 years undefeated in the 200m; 3X world champion.”

With a victory in the 200 at the Wethklasse Diamond League meeting in Zurich and winning the 200m standings in all three appearances, Lyles decided to close the season for him.
Lyles recorded one of the major highlights of the Budapest World Championships as he won gold in the 100, 200, and 4×100 relay, earning himself the title of the first man to achieve the feat since the legend Usain Bolt in 2015.
