According to reports, the incident occurred on February 24, 2024, when Josiah Killman was found unresponsive in the living quarters of the college by the Campbellsville police. Despite being rushed to the hospital, Killman could not be saved and was pronounced dead. Afterward, the police sent out an arrest warrant for the 21-year-old Escalera.
Within a brief period of time, the authorities apprehended the alleged culprits from a bar around Taylor County after an anonymous tip. Following his arrest, police have released Charles Escalera’s mugshot. In a statement afterward, police officials confirmed the arrest without any confrontations. The TMZ report also stated that Escalera’s bail bond would cost $2 million.
Josiah Killman’s family break silence after losing the amateur wrestler
After the tragic passing of amateur wrestler, Josiah Killman, there was a GoFundMe page set up for his family to help pay for all the expenses related to his funeral. Although the initial goal was $65,000, well wishers have donated heartily and the collected amount currently stands at $68,590. A spokesperson for the family has also issued a statement on the matter.
While they’re happy that Charles Escalera, the alleged murderer, is facing charges for strangling Josiah Killman to death, it is a hard time for the entire family to process. Josiah’s parents Jessica and Joe Killman were devastated after losing their son and the spokesperson has requested to maintain the family’s privacy.

They added, “There are no words strong enough to mend the broken hearts of this family right now. We are all truly in shock at the abrupt and unexpected loss of Josiah and we are asking for an abundance of prayers for them as they grapple with this devastating tragedy.”
