SUMMARY
- Dustin Poirier not only earns from his fights but also from selling hot sauce.
- However, he has several other businesses other than the hot sauce.
Dustin Poirier is an American MMA fighter renowned for his stint with the American promotion, UFC. The lightweight fighter turned professional in 2009 and joined the UFC in 2010 after World Extreme Cage Fighting merged with the UFC.
In the last 14 years, Poirier has slowly built his career inside the cage and has been working on several businesses outside the octagon ring. It is common for famous UFC fighters to build more revenue streams outside their fighting career to safeguard themselves financially from any career-threatening injuries inside the cage. However, Poirier has taken it a step further by building around five businesses outside the UFC.
Dustin Poirier owns five different businesses
Dustin Poirier announced in 2020 that he was launching a new brand of Cajun hot sauce, Poirier’s Louisiana Style. The hot sauce is a collaboration between him and a Canadian company, Heartbeat Hot Sauce Company. The UFC lightweight fighter followed it up by launching another business in 2022. The hot sauce brand went viral ahead of UFC 257 when Poirier gifted a bottle to Conor McGregor during their face-off.
Poirier launched a whiskey company called Rare Stash in January 2022. The whiskey is sold in 18 states across the country to customers in a 750-ml bottle and costs around $100 each. Along with the alcohol, they also sell merchandise on their website, which includes t-shirts and hats.

One month later, reports came out that revealed HOP WTR, the non-alcoholic sparkling hop water, had joined hands with the UFC fighter as its brand ambassador and part owner. Poirier has also partnered with REAP CBD to introduce his line of CBD products to his fans.
Dustin Poirier joined a local ownership group in 2023 to buy Marcello’s Wine Market in Lafayette, Louisiana, U.S. The deal is reported to be around $2 million, which is considered a fair price for the business that has been running for 40 years in the area. The above five businesses represent the business acumen of the UFC fighter with a diverse portfolio.
Does UFC earn a revenue share from these businesses?
Dustin Poirier recently talked about his portfolio during his appearance on the Mighty Cast podcast with Demetrios Johnson. The American fighter revealed what pushed him to start these businesses: “Everything I have done, business-wise, kinda happened organically. It was things I enjoyed doing, or things I was passionate about, that kind of fell into a good spot where I was able to make a business decision or be a partner in a company.”
Poirier added that being around other successful people and brands that he aligned himself with slowly pushed him to build his businesses or be a part of his journey. It wasn’t a one-day decision; it was a slow journey that is still in progress.

Some reports revealed that the UFC’s new contract clauses have allowed the promotion to earn revenue from the business ventures of its fighters. These clauses came into effect in 2023, so it is unclear how much revenue they can earn from businesses that were already established before 2023.
Whatever might be the case, it is clear from the above portfolio of businesses that Dustin Poirier has set himself pretty nicely for the rest of his life with these businesses. He is slowly moving toward the end of his career, and these five businesses will keep him occupied in his second chapter of life.
