Tony Ferguson is considered to be one of the toughest fighters in the world of combat sports. ‘El Cucuy’ has showcased his physical and mental fortitude throughout his UFC career. However, due to his 6-fight losing streak, he has enlisted the help of one of the toughest people on the planet, David Goggins. Recently, UFC commentator Joe Rogan commented about Tony and his latest trainer on the JRE podcast.
During episode 2068 of the JRE podcast, Rogan reacted to Tony Ferguson’s ‘Hell Week’ training program with David Goggins. Hell Week is a super tough training method used by US Navy SEALs which requires the candidate to perform various physical tasks for 20 hours a day.

Since Goggins is a retired Navy SEAL himself, he has gone through this regime thrice in his life. Furthermore, he constantly posted videos of him and Tony going through ‘Hell Week’. However, Joe Rogan is very concerned about ‘El Cucuy’ after watching some of these videos. “Clearly when the two of them are training together, David is not struggling at all and Tony is struggling,” said Rogan.
Furthermore, he went on to praise the 48-year-old Goggins for his amazing endurance and claimed that it would be beneficial for Tony. “Tony’s dying…I’m sure he puked a ton,” claimed the podcast host. Furthermore, he revealed that Tony Ferguson has become the first person ever to get through Hell Week.
Joe Rogan labels David Goggins’ haters as ‘weak’
Joe Rogan has a lot of respect for David Goggins and his mental resilience. Rogan was in awe of Goggins when he saw him doing miles of lunges with destroyed knees while training Tony. “Look at his knees, destroyed knees and this is just a few weeks after another f*****g surgery,” said Joe while reacting to the clip of Goggins and Ferguson.
However, the JRE host believes that Goggins gets misunderstood by a bunch of people. “He gets misunderstood unfortunately by some people that I like…They don’t look into it hard enough,” said Rogan. Furthermore, he claims that people try to pick him apart without paying attention to the message that David is trying to deliver.
In addition to this, Joe claims that he finds Goggins’ motivational messages very relatable. Furthermore, the UFC commentator went on to label him a ‘national treasure’. However, he had a completely different label for David’s haters.
Joe Rogan went on to categorize three types of men who hate the former Navy SEAL. Rogan claims that “weak men, jealous men,” and people who don’t know him are the haters of Goggins.

On the other hand, when it comes to Tony, he’s not very sure how the training with Goggins will play out during his fight. Tony Ferguson is set to take on up-and-comer Paddy Pimblett at UFC 296. He will be looking to return to the winning column after surviving Hell Week.
