Ian Garry has been going through it ahead of UFC 296. In what is easily the most hyped card of the year, Garry finds himself fighting not just for his record, but for his reputation as well. Having sat out the drama surrounding Garry for a while, Paulo Costa has also seemingly entered the fray.
Previously, things began unraveling for the Irish prospect after news broke of him getting kicked out of Leon Edwards’ gym. While Ian insisted that it was due to Leon’s coaches seeing him as a ‘threat’, his poor gym record showed otherwise. Soon after, stories of Ian getting kicked out of gyms became the talk of the town.

As such, the tide and the people quickly turned on ‘The Future‘, relentlessly trolling him on social media. Recently, UFC middleweight Paulo Costa also responded to a tweet, “okay why does Ian Garry Clich like this” intended to make fun of Garry. In the picture, Ian was in a rather awkward stance during a grappling exchange with Jordan Williams at UFC 268. According to Paulo, Garry used the stance “To be more efficient and sexy”.
For the most part, the past few weeks have seen numerous creators and fighters troll Garry. Be it due to his gym behavior or his wife, there has been no aspect left untouched. Notably, ‘The Eraser‘ has surprisingly managed to stay out of the matter completely till now. As such, it makes him one of the selected few fighters to maybe side with Garry. Should things develop, the two fighters could be on course to train together in the future.
Ian Garry is planning to represent Brazil in the UFC
For the most part, Ian Garry is likely going to have a tough time finding a gym to train at. Having traveled across the globe and trained at numerous gyms, Garry claims to have accumulated a lot of knowledge. However, with the fallout that has transpired in recent weeks, a lot of those bridges have likely burned down.
Most notably, Ian trained at Kill Cliff FC with the likes of Vicente Luque, Brendan Allen, and many other top UFC fighters. However, having recorded sparring footage and released it has likely put him on bad terms with certain fighters. Moreover, as Brendan Allen previously disclosed, there is also a fighter at the gym who has slept the Irishman out cold in sparring.

Thus, a change of scenery might be at the top of the list for the undefeated welterweight fighter. Recently, Garry also spoke about his love for Brazil, and how he wishes to represent the country along with his native Ireland in the UFC. Having spent a lot of time in the country, which is his wife Layla Machado Garry’s homeland, Ian has become well-integrated in the community.
As such, he will also be reportedly donning the yellow shorts for his upcoming fight at UFC 296. All things considered, Ian Garry requires friends within the MMA community, and Paulo has emerged as a potential candidate. Training out of the Pitbull Brothers Gym in Natal, Rio Grande do Norte, a link-up with Garry at Chute Boxe, Diego Lima, or vice versa is a possibility in the future.
