Joe Rogan is one of the most influential people in the world of MMA. His JRE podcast has been a breeding ground for some very interesting discussions about the sport. Recently, Daniel Cormier made his much-awaited debut on the podcast. However, Joe Rogan’s unexpected claim regarding Jon Jones was the highlight of the episode.
During the 150th episode of the JRE MMA show, DC and Joe talked about a lot of topics related to MMA. Furthermore, since Cormier was on the show, the topic of Jon Jones was bound to be brought up during their conversation. While discussing his move to heavyweight, Rogan made a surprising statement about Jones and his steroid innocence.
During the discussion about Jon’s gruesome injury, the JRE host asked DC if the injury was related to heavy lifting to make the heavyweight limit. “That and the extra weight, he’s carrying all that extra weight…It’s like, you gotta develop muscle but it’s got to be usable muscle, you can’t just be big,” said DC.
Furthermore, Joe started to talk about another possible reason for the injury sustained by ‘Bones’. “Well, the other thing is if you’re not doing anything like if you’re not taking anything then your recovery from like heavy power lifts is kind of significant,” said Joe. According to Rogan’s statement, Jon Jones is not taking any steroids during his heavyweight run. This is a very interesting point since Jones has been caught multiple times using PEDs throughout his career.

Daniel Cormier did not react to this statement at all, which was very surprising given his history with Jones. In conclusion, it looks like Jones is allegedly on a clean path as the UFC heavyweight champion for now. However, the question is: will he be able to stay on this path after the injury?
Joe Rogan feels that Jon Jones is genetically gifted
Jon Jones is considered by many to be the greatest MMA fighter. Apart from a DQ loss against Matt Hamill back in 2009. Since then, he has been unstoppable, with a 27-1-1 record. Furthermore, Joe Rogan believes that ‘Bones’ is successful since he has the perfect physique for MMA.
“He’s got like literally the perfect frame for fighting ’cause he only has muscles where he needs it,” said Rogan. Furthermore, he went on to say that ‘Bones’ looks like a fighter designed in a lab.
Joe Rogan also said that Jon Jones goes super hard during his workouts, however, which adds up to his genetically gifted physique. Given the success Jones has had in his UFC career, his physique has been a strong asset for him. Throughout his career, he has been able to exploit his height and reach advantage to the fullest.
On the other hand, Jones was supposed to fight heavyweight legend Stipe Miocic at UFC 295 but had to withdraw due to his pectoral muscle injury. He will most likely be fighting Stipe once he’s back in action.
