Reddit reacts to Joe Rogan’s ‘intense’ kettlebell workout
Around a year ago, Joe Rogan was featured in what could be classified as one of the most comedic pieces of content he has ever come up with. And no, it wasn’t a standup comedy set, nor was it any funny clip from his JRE Podcast. Hilariously enough, it was a clip of Joe Rogan carrying out what seemed like an ‘intense’ kettlebell workout.
A fan posted a 20-second-long edited clip of Joe Rogan doing a vigorous routine of what looked like two-handed kettlebell bicep curls on Joe Rogan’s Reddit. While doing the exercise, Rogan kept on hissing as a way to cope with the amount of strain his body was being put in. In other words, he was exhaling sharply. Fans on Reddit found it extremely hilarious as was evident from their comments.
One fan wrote, “when you are too loud at the library”. Another wrote, “You know it’s intense when your face morphs into Sylvester Stallone.” Some fans compared Rogan’s strained face to that of a chimp. “he really does look like a chimp”, One wrote. Another fan commented, “Look at that violence inside that chimp body of his! What an animal!”
Another fan ridiculed Rogan’s standup comedy, saying, “Lmaoooo he should do this on stage, he’d get some genuine laughs!” One thing is for sure; the Joe Rogan fanbase had one hell of a time ridiculing his kettlebell workout routine. But what does Joe Rogan himself feel about his routine?
Joe Rogan comments on his kettlebell workout experiences
On his podcast with special guest Pavel Tsatsouline, a Belarusian fitness instructor, Joe Rogan talked in-depth about his experience of exercising with Kettlebells. During a conversation with Pavel, Rogan mentioned that he had observed something quite peculiar.
He noted that when he began integrating kettlebell exercises into his routine, he experienced an unexpected improvement in activities he hadn’t specifically focused on. Providing an example, he mentioned a period when he hadn’t performed dips for several months.
Instead, he concentrated on various kettlebell exercises such as cleans, presses, snatches, swings, and various squat protocols, including overhead squats. Despite not directly training dips, he observed a significant increase in his dip performance during that time.
In the same episode of the JRE podcast, Rogan further talked about why he loves kettlebells so much. Rogan said, “One of the things that I love about kettlebells is that it promotes functional strength. It promotes the entire body moving as a unit, and that seems to apply very quickly to athletics. It’s one of the reasons why jiu-jitsu people have adopted kettlebell training so almost universally.”
Rogan further talked about why Kettlebell training is also good in Jiu-Jitsu. He said, “There are many reasons why, but that’s one of them. And non-glamorous moves like Turkish get-up, which is like one of the very best moves for jiu-jitsu. It’s just phenomenal for your stability, your core stability. and your ability to get out from under the bottom positions.”
Joe ends the topic by explaining how Kettlebells efficiently work your whole body. While also focusing on each muscle group in one’s body. It’s quite clear that Joe Rogan is quite serious about his Kettlebell workouts. But his fans not so much.
