- During an episode with Cameron Hanes, Rogan discussed the insane lifts by the Australian powerlifter and marveled at his freakish physique.
Joe Rogan has seen his fair share of freak athletes during his time with the UFC, but even the veteran commentator and combat sports fan was left stunned when he discussed the Australian bodybuilder, Tom Haviland.
Joe Rogan was discussing the mystique and lore behind Haviland with Derek, a fitness educator from More Plates More Dates fame, on episode number 2073 of the JRE podcast. The first thing that grabbed Rogan, apart from the raw power of Haviland, was his presentation.
Rogan commented to Derek: “Why is he wearing work boots, why is he wearing jeans, why he never show his face?” Derek, who is experienced in branding fitness content for his profile, agreed with Joe and added his nuisance to the situation. Derek was unsure about the branding of Haviland, who operates without revealing his face or a private Instagram account.
The fitness influencer commented: “I don’t understand his branding though around don’t show my face, private Instagram account. The posts are to document progress and inspire people or bring attention to a program or something but then it’s like idk like maybe he got a lot of harassment or something like that”.
Rogan added by stating, “That’s what really strange about him, like what is he doing? He is getting people to talk about it.” Derek concluded by agreeing: “Maybe that’s part of the mystique”.
The mystique is working for Tom Haviland, who has more than 700,000 followers with only 71 posts and a private account. He is promoting powerlifting programs through his Instagram account as well as Jailhouse Strong merchandise. The Australian freak of nature has quickly grown his audience after making his first video in December 2022.
Joe Rogan discussed Tom Haviland’s workout with Cameron Hanes
This isn’t the first time Rogan has discussed Haviland on his podcast. During episode number 2068 with Cameron Hanes, Rogan discussed the insane lifts by the Australian powerlifter and marveled at his freakish physique.
Rogan brought Haviland’s name into the picture with astonishment. He called Haviland a ‘real weirdo’ before describing his life in Australia. Rogan revealed to Hanes that Tom does these insane workouts while wearing flannel shirts and jeans, and stated that he’s got the most freakish physique ever.

Rogan moved on by discussing Haviland’s insane workout, which included jaw-dropping bench presses and deadlifts. The UFC commentator was left wide-eyed when he revealed that Haviland benches 612 lbs and deadlifts around 1,003 lbs with proper reps.
The Australian powerlifter and bodybuilder is indeed a freak of nature. He is 6’8 and weighs 385 lbs, and he was reported to be doing farmer walks of 820 lbs. Many fans in the fitness and bodybuilding community want to see Haviland go head-to-head with the popular strongman for Icealnd, Hafþór Júlíus Björnsson.
A powerlifting competition between the two might break the current 18-inch deadlift of 1,185 lbs, which belongs to Oleksii Novikov of Ukraine. Haviland is the newest sensation that might steal the spotlight in future strongman competitions.
