Conor McGregor is no longer just a fighter! Although he earned the fame for his achievements inside the UFC Octagon and fighting Floyd Mayweather in a boxing ring, Conor is all set to make his acting debut with the upcoming 2024 remake of “Road House.” In the movie, McGregor has performed some daring stunts alongside the main lead, Jake Gyllenhaal.
While he is excited about the world witnessing the movie for the first time when it premiers on Amazon Prime Video on March 21, the former UFC champion is also quite nervous about it. As per IMDb, the movie has an R rating due to crude language, violence, and partial nudity. And, in a recent interview with ‘Good Morning Britain’, McGregor revealed that he was involved with some s*x scenes in the movie and he was quite nervous about his mother Margaret seeing the movie.
Conor added, “I went in, I done my best, It was my first time out, my first time doing the movie game and you know, I was nervous. I’m still a bit nervous to be honest because you know my mother has yet to see the film. She’s going to see the film this evening and you know there’s a couple of raunchy scenes in it as well and I didn’t let her know any of that.”
Apparently, there is a minute-long scene in the movie where Conor is naked. While watching the movie on the big screen, “The Notorious One” was seemingly uncomfortable. In the interview, he joked that the filmmakers could have cut the scene slightly shorter. However, McGregor also added humorously that he wasn’t fussed about his mother seeing the naked scenes as it was nothing that she hadn’t seen before.
As for his character in the movie, the former UFC double-champion is playing the role of “Knox.” The Dublin native has described his character as the ultimate “bad guy” who will go up against the protagonist “Dalton,” played by Oscar-nominee, Jake Gyllenhaal. The movie currently holds a 69% fresh rating on Rotten Tomatoes and a 59% rating on Metacritic.
Conor McGregor talks about his Hollywood debut with “Road House”
Trying out something for the first could be an intense experience. One needs to be ready to learn and that is exactly the attitude that Conor McGregor brought to the sets of the movie. He was eager to expand his knowledge about the art of acting and compared it with a jiu-jitsu term. The former UFC title holder has called himself a “white belt” in the world of Hollywood.
He said, “It was an amazing experience, a lot of hard work, you know, a lot of humbling hard work. And, you know I approached it like I would approach my martial arts training. I’m a novice at this. I’ve never done a movie before so I’m akin to a white belt, a beginner. So I just went in, I took direction well and I gave it my all and I feel we done a good show.”
McGregor also added that he is a big fan of the original 1989 movie, starring the late Patrick Swayze. Hence, the MMA fighter wanted to do justice to the movie and he feels the Swayze family would be happy with the 2024 installment. What are your excitement levels for McGregor’s Hollywood debut?
