Ian Garry is choosing to ignore the social media chatter that has arisen regarding his romantic relationship, which has been the subject of unwarranted commentary. Lately, discussions about Garry’s wife have gained traction on MMA social media platforms, with many expressing their opinions on the love life of the up-and-coming 170 lbs fighter.
So, the spotlight has focused on Layla Machado Garry due to her book called ‘How to be a WAG’. In this context, WAG refers to a wife or girlfriend, particularly emphasizing a romantic association with a prosperous athlete. So, after Garry and his wife became a topic of discussion on the internet, the fighter tried to slow things down by turning off the comments on his social media.
However, UFC welterweight veteran Colby Covington noticed it and thought it was a cowardly move from Garry. “Look at that little Ian Garry. He is turning off his social media like f**king sensitive soy boy. He aint tough,” said Covington in a recent interview.
‘Chaos’ himself is not new to controversies. Even though he has been involved in the worst of situations, according to the fighter, turning off comments makes Garry “a fu*king joke”. “I have had d**th threats, bombings. Like people wanted to kill me after Brazil. I never turned off my social media, I never turned off my comments,” said the American welterweight.
Ian Machado Garry, who maintains an undefeated record, is scheduled to face his former training partner from Kill Cliff FC and fellow top 10-ranked welterweight contender, Vicente Luque, at UFC 296 on December 16, 2023.
UFC legend feels Ian Garry should avoid Colby Covington at UFC 296 Press Conference
UFC legend Chael Sonnen has recommended that Ian Garry should refrain from attending the UFC 296 press conference. Additionally, the former UFC title contender cautioned Garry, predicting that he would likely find himself on the losing side of an unavoidable verbal battle with Colby Covington.
UFC 296, scheduled for December 16, features Leon Edwards defending his UFC Welterweight title against former Interim Champion Colby Covington in the main event. Adding to the anticipation, the undefeated Ian Machado Garry is slated to face Vicente Luque in a compelling matchup on the undercard.
Ian Garry has been surrounded by controversies regarding his relationship with his wife, Layla Anna-Lee. So, Chael Sonnen believes that even though Colby Covington and Garry are not directly facing each other in the event, Covington would be well-prepared to dominate any verbal exchanges.
Moreover, Sonnen concluded that, given the Irish fighter’s personal conflicts with Edwards, there’s a possibility that he might provoke Colby into launching verbal attacks for getting entangled in the situation.
