UFC BMF champion Justin Gaethje is training for his next opponent, former featherweight champion Max Holloway, for the upcoming UFC 300 event in April. Both the UFC fighters are among the most beloved and respected mixed martial artists. They are known for their explosive striking and giving it all in the cage. Both have also been part of some of the most memorable UFC moments.
The two UFC fighters are set to face each other in the T-Mobile Arena in Paradise, Nevada. It was announced by UFC president Dana White through his social media and left the fans astonished. However, fans were also not happy that they would have to see one of the two lose.
In a recent interview with sports writer/columnist Kevin Lole Gaethje shared his training and schedule for the upcoming bout. He stated, “With age comes wisdom. I’m now doing everything, you know I’m not pushing past a point that is shouldn’t push past”. Sharing that he was more conscious of his limitations and wouldn’t take unnecessary risks while training.
He was also questioned on whether the matchup would be helpful for his speculated title match against Lightweight Champion Islam Mackhachev. To this, he responded, “Every time I step in there it’s a traumatic life experience, win or lose, it is chaos and you grow, every single time no matter the outcome”. Gaethje was positive that it would surely benefit him to grow and learn as a fighter.

As the UFC 300 gets closer and two future Hall of Famers are set to collide on the biggest stage, we can only assume it to be a banger. Both the fighters are Elite strikers and fans would be witnessing a dominant striking battle. Although Max would deal more with volume and pace while Gaethje deals more with power and precision.

Both the Fighters are coming off two straight victories and would have the momentum going on their side. Although Gaethje would be going in as a favorite having fought his entire career in the UFC lightweight division. Holloway could face some size and experience disparity as he has competed only once in the division against Dustin Poirier losing via decision.
Max Holloway addresses ‘towelgate incident’ beef with Justin Gaethje and first meet
Max Holloway and Justin Gaethje have been involved previously in the infamous ‘towelgate incident’ at the UFC 218 official weigh-ins. Gaethje accidentally almost exposed Holloway as he had stripped down to make weight and Justin was volunteering to hold the towel. This was a funny incident, which the fans jokingly considered their beef towards the UFC 300 showdown.
Holloway shared in an interview with ESPM MMA, “I guess that’s the whole beef. I guess that’s the way to sell this fight. Me and him have beef. What is that? That’s a towelgate. You can call it a towelgate, Gaethje and Holloway’s towelgate incident. It’s super funny.” Understanding the internet humor and willingly participating in promoting the fight for the MMA community.
The former featherweight champion further went on to compliment Justin on being a good guy and how he offered his team a ride upon first meeting. He stated, “He was just at the gym [when we first met] and he asked us, ‘Hey, do you need to go some place?’ as he saw we needed a ride. He was a cool dude. He’s a real one.” Showing the respect and admiration the UFC fighters share for each other.
