UFC featherweight fighter, Yair Rodriguez is one of the biggest Mexican superstars in the company. So far, he has accumulated an MMA record of 16-4. Fans have seen him attending UFC events and he is certainly there to cheer for his fellow Mexican fighters whenever they do well. However, as it turns out, Rodriguez himself does not have a lot of friends.
Yair Rodriguez always puts his career ahead of himself and it was proven in July 2022 when he accepted a fight against Brian Ortega. Ortega and Yair have trained previously and they call each other friends. However, once the UFC insisted on booking the fight, Rodriguez did not think about it twice and accepted the fight. While that was in 2022, Rodriguez let everyone know that he did not believe in friendships much before that.
At UFC 211, in May 2017, Yair Rodriguez fought former UFC lightweight champion Frankie Edgar. It was the biggest test of his career at the time and ahead of it, Rodriguez made some stunning revelations. During an interview with TMZ, the Mexican fighter revealed that he does not have any friends in the game.
He added, “You know I have friends, like I don’t go out to party, I don’t sh*t. The only thing that I do is just training and fighting. That’s it, that’s all my life all about. I don’t have girlfriend, I don’t have nothing, nothing. (I) focus on (my) fighting.” As such, Yair is a man on a mission and continues to devote himself to his craft.
Yair Rodriguez is fighting Brian Ortega at UFC Mexico City
For the most part, Yair has established himself as one of the best in the featherweight division. With that said, he has only lost to the former featherweight champ, Max Holloway in November 2021. However, even that was a close fight as Yair got his fair share of the offense in before Holloway earned a unanimous decision win.
Aside from that loss, “El Pantera” has lost to the former undisputed champ, Alexander Volkanovski. Having claimed the interim featherweight title against Josh Emmett UFC 284, Rodriguez saw his hopes get dashed at the hands of the featherweight GOAT. However, he is looking to bounce back with a fight against Brian Ortega. With their previous fight ending by way of an injury, the rematch is a highly anticipated contest.

With that said, Rodriguez is looking to make a case for himself and is targeting Ilia Topuria next. Owing to the newly crowned champ’s comments, Yair said, “Anywhere I f****** see him, I’ll f*** him up”. An exciting fight in the pipeline, it all hinges on what happens in their next fights. Seeing that the champ wants to fight in Spain, the Mexican is ready and open to the challenge as well.
Yair Rodriguez’s dating life and relationships
For the most part, there has been a lot of talk about Yair Rodriguez’s dating life since the interview with TMZ. According to the majority of sources it has been stated that Yair either was or still is in a relationship with UFC flyweight champion and fellow Mexican, Alexa Grasso. Notably, this rumor emerged in 2019, with a lot of people jumping on the train.
Naturally, both have a lot of things in common. Both of them are accomplished UFC fighters representing the proud nation of Mexico and are often in the public eye. Whilst Yair is 31 years old, Alexa is 30, and with no reports of significant others on either side, the two have often been shipped together. Notably, the two have neither confirmed nor denied the rumors of their alliance, and it remains an unsolved mystery.
At the same time, the only other link for Yair was when he was pictured alongside Mexican singer and actress, Belinda Peregrín. With their picture going viral shortly after the actress broke up with Christian Nodal, yair took to social media to dispel any rumors of them being together. All things considered, we are yet to get a definite confirmation of any romantic activity or love interest in the Mexican featherweight’s life.
