Jon Jones and Daniel Cormier have one of the most storied rivalries in UFC history. At its peak, their rivalry had public brawls, name-calling, and Twitter feuds. It had everything we’ve come to expect out of good UFC rivalries. However, what made theirs so special was the elite level of competition represented by these two athletes.
DC and “Bones” during their title bouts, were two of the best fighters in the UFC and the world. But despite representing the pinnacle of the sport within the Octagon, their relationship outside the Octagon was tenuous at best. Jon and DC came to blows while promoting their fight at the MGM Grand. Their pull-apart brawl went viral instantly with Jones and DC having to issue public apologies for their actions.

Furthermore, the infamous ESPN hot mic incident is still quite fresh in most people’s minds. Jon and DC were being interviewed after the aforementioned brawl and things were very tense. Then, during a brief moment of dead air, Jones, thinking the mic was off, addressed Cormier. “Hey p*ssy, are you still there?” said Jones. This moment seemingly confirmed in many people’s minds that Jones was perhaps only pretending to be the nice guy.
Safe to say, the animosity between the two fighters is quite high. However, recently, the two seem to have called a truce of sorts. Jon even said he trusted DC to do a good job of commentating on his fight with Ciryl Gane. Despite this, “Bones” was less than pleased with Cormier’s reaction after the latter did not express any emotions at UFC 285 when Jones tapped out Gane. In stepped former Olympic gold medalist, Henry Cejudo to attempt to repair the relationship between these bitter rivals.
Daniel Cormier reveals what Jon Jones did when the former’s father passed away
Henry Cejudo claimed earlier that he would sit down with Daniel Cormier to try, and, get him and Jon Jones on good terms. And Triple C delivered on this promise as DC showed up in a video on Cejudo’s YouTube channel to discuss his enmity with Jones. But in that video, the retired UFC double champ made some revelations not many expected.

Daniel told Henry, “In the darkest moments, when his mother passed, when my father passed, he sent me a message. He really did. And even in that moment, I appreciated that. For all that we had been through, I appreciated him sending me that message… Daniel Cormier Reveals How Jon Jones Became His Friend in the Darkest Period of His Life, there really is. I just ain’t had the opportunity to see it.”
It seems this relationship isn’t entirely beyond repair. However, Daniel Cormier did admit that he saw no point in sitting down with Jones. He said that as long as the two aren’t punching each other like they were at the MGM Grand, it’s a good sign.
