Conor McGregor has given a glimmer of hope to fans about his return to the octagon. The Irishman has not fought since losing to Dustin Poirier in July 2021. Allegations against him for steroid usage and Conor not being able to make it to the USADA testing pool further hinted at him not fighting anytime soon.
However, he made his comeback this year when he joined TUF 31 as a coach against Michael Chandler which was eventually supposed to end with them fighting next year as the Irishman is ineligible to fight in 2023. However, McGregor has been calling out other fighters like Justin Gaethje and Nate Diaz on Twitter. This has obviously made Michael Chandler a bit worried about their matchup. So, he is regularly involved in banter with ‘The Notorious’.
Chandler replied to McGregor’s tweet on ‘X’ and urged him to give a sample to USADA so that their fight could finally materialize.
You spelled USADA wrong @TheNotoriousMMA …when are you going to exclusively give a sample so we can finish what we started? #BeHereToTakePart https://t.co/11714q1ooi

Replying to this, Conor McGregor wrote, “Morning Mike, I just took a humongous p*ss right there, just for you. Bout to have a coffee now, have a good day.” Conor, being himself, deleted the tweet after a while.
While this can also be just a humorous reply from McGregor to Chandler, it has left the fans speculating that the Irishman may be hinting at his comeback. However, nothing can be confirmed, as McGregor deleted the tweet and once again put a question mark on his return to the UFC.
Dana White confirms that Conor McGregor will fight Michael Chandler next
UFC boss Dana White has put an end to the speculations regarding Conor McGregor’s next opponent, and he has confirmed that the former double champ is set to make his much-awaited return to the octagon. “I talked to Conor either yesterday or the day before, and yeah, he’s ready to fight,” the UFC president said. White then advised Conor to get in shape first, and then the next steps would be figured out.
Previously, McGregor took to Twitter to call out Justin Gaethje after the latter won the BMF title against Dustin Poirier thanks to a brutal head kick by the ‘Highlight’. While the former UFC champion expressed his interest in fighting Gaethje, the latter dismissed it completely by stating that he does not want to fight someone on steroids.
McGregor then invited Nate Diaz to complete the trilogy of fights between them. This was after the Stockton native lost to Jake Paul in their boxing match. This was a matchup that every fan would like to enjoy.
But this leaves Michael Chandler in the middle of nowhere, as his bout with McGregor has been in the works since the beginning of this year. However, the UFC President came to the fighter’s rescue when he said, “It’s definitely Chandler. He likes to f*** with everybody, you know what I mean? Especially his opponent, or possible opponents.”
However, this may not be enough reassurance for Michael Chandler, as a fight will only materialize when Conor’s troubles with USADA come to an end.
