Henry Cejudo is seen as someone with one of the highest fight IQs in the game. On numerous occasions, we have seen champions like Jon Jones and even Aljamain Sterling turn to him for wisdom. As such, the latest fighter to join the list is none other than Mackenzie Dern.
Currently the #8 ranked fighter in women’s strawweight rankings, Dern is likely looking to add that extra edge to her game. Having won 6 out of her last 8 fights, there is no doubt that the Brazilian is a serious contender in her division. However, she has often been accused by fans of not having that trigger or ruthlessness in her game. Thus, it appears as though she has sought Henry’s advice to improve her skills.
An Olympic gold medallist and two-divisional champion in the UFC, Henry is seen as one of the wisest fighters. Training the ADCC champion on how to shoot a double-leg takedown, Henry can be heard saying, “Your b*tt is going to be my grip. The bigger it is, the easier it is to use as a grip.” Despite his unconventional ways of training, it appeared as though the duo enjoyed a rather fruitful session together.
Having trained with the likes of Jon Jones, Brandon Moreno, Deiveson Figueiredo, Alexandre Pantoja, and many more, Cejudo has managed to build quite a reputation for himself. Ahead of his UFC 292 fight against Sean O’Malley, former bantamweight champ Aljamain Sterling reached out to Cejudo for counsel. Unfortunately for Sterling, he did not heed Cejudo’s advice and paid the ultimate price for it.
Fans react to Henry Cejudo training with Mackenzie Dern
For the most part, fans were rather amused to see Henry training with Dern. Arguably one of the most gorgeous UFC fighters on the roster, many claimed that Cejudo was a very lucky man. Somewhat of a fan-favorite fighter in the MMA community, a lot of people online were understandably a little jealous of Henry.
As is the case many times, clips of Henry shooting the double-leg takedown quickly spread across social media. Here, many fans had a lot of interesting things to say about Henry’s tactics. Whilst some indicated that Henry could get in trouble with his wife over this, others questioned his true intentions. All things considered, the comments do make for a fun and lighthearted read.

Currently, Cejudo is said to be recuperating from a shoulder injury. Previously, he was set to take on Chito Vera at UFC 292 but pulled out after suffering the injury in a training session. Now, with Chito likely facing Sean O’Malley next, Cejudo has also put his foot forward, offering to fight O’Malley instead. With his injury seemingly healed, fans can expect to see Cejudo either later in the year or early next year.
