Colby Covington has never shied away from letting his thoughts known to the world. With all the hype going circling in the world of combat sports regarding the fight between Jake Paul and Tyron Woodley, it was only a matter of time until Covington spoke about it.
In a recent interview with MMA Junkie, Covington came out with all guns blazing at the former UFC champion Tyron Woodley and saying how Woodley is just like a washed-up fighter who has to book stupid fights to keep up with his bills.

“It’s sad, but they’re doing this on purpose, and I really think Tyron’s going out there to take a dive. I think he’s broke. He needs the money. He’s got mouths to feed. He’s got a lot of alimony paychecks to pay.”
“So, I think he’s just going to go out there and take a dive. It’s going to be a circus. We know boxing is the most corrupt sport in the world as it is. So this little side circus they are doing with Jake Paul, of course, they are gonna favor it his way to make it work.” Covington expressed on MMA Junkie.
Colby Covington on Jake Paul
Jake Paul is 3-0 in his professional boxing career and all of his victories have come by way of KO or TKO, but hasn’t faced a professional boxer yet. He owns victories over fellow YouTuber and boxer Ali Loui Al-Fakhri aka AnEsonGib, former NBA basketball player and three-time slam dunk contest champion Nate Robinson and former MMA world champion Ben Askren, the latest of which took place against Askren in April this year.

“I’m sick of all these fighters. All these fighters are trying to give the MMA community a bad name. Like dude, leave it to the guys that are in their prime. All these guys who are past their time washed-up fighters out of the UFC – Ben Askren. Come on, that guy’s never thrown a punch. He’s never thrown a punch in the UFC or any MMA fight. All he does is hug the guy and try to kiss him and yell sweet nothings in the guy’s ear,” said Covington.
Future for Covington
Covington lost by a TKO in the fifth round to Usman in their first meeting back at UFC 245 in December 2019, and he’s been campaigning for a rematch ever since.
Chaos hasn’t received much communication from the UFC or his management about a timeline for the rematch. He would be interested in fighting at Madison Square Garden in New York if the promotion returns there for its traditional November card, but ideally, he would like it to happen sooner.
