UFC 299 weigh-ins just concluded and Marlon ‘Chito’ Vera has raised concerns about his health before the main event. Chito is expected to take on Sean O’Malley for the latter’s UFC Bantamweight Championship at the Kaseya Center in Miami, Florida. At the weigh-ins, ‘Suga’ came well in time and got his job done well. However, ‘Chito’ came in quite late and did not look in the best condition.
With just half an hour left to get weighed in, ‘Chito’ was already raising concern among fans. However, he came in for the official UFC 299 weigh-ins just in time and made weight for the fight.
What had fans concerned was Chito’s condition at the weigh-in. It looked like the Ecuadorian had gone through a brutal weight cut.

One fan wrote, “Terrible cut he’s getting knocked out.” Another fan wrote, “Man not a great look.” One fan refused to think it was real and claimed, “No way this is real.” Meanwhile, a fan blamed his nutritionist and wrote, “He needs a better nutritionist.”

When his weight was announced to be 135 lbs, Chito raised his arms in relief. His weight cut had proven to be successful and we had a main event on our hands.

Flyweight CJ Vergara from the early prelims card weighed in at 127 lbs. He was given an extra hour to cut one pound. However, the latest development states that he was not able to cut that last pound. CJ Vergara vs. Maryna Moroz is expected to continue as scheduled but Vergara will receive a 30% fine.

On the other hand, bantamweight fighter Merab Dvalishvili also made weight at 135 lbs at the UFC 299 weigh-in. He is the backup fighter for the main event. In the case of Sean O’Malley or Marlon Vera having to back out last minute, Dvalishvili can slot in. It should not be forgotten that ‘The Machine’ fought Henry Cejudo less than a month ago at UFC 298. He stayed in shape to be a solid backup fighter for the championship bout.
Otherwise, there were no difficulties for the UFC 299 fighters weighing in. All the fights are scheduled to continue as they were supposed to.
