Fight fans were highly anticipated for the UFC 266 event as crowd favourite Nick Diaz was making his return to the octagon after six long year’s. As a result, when Diaz made his walk to the octagon, fans in the T-Mobile Arena went berserk as they chanted Diablo’s name repeatedly.
Speaking about the match, both the fighters gave fans a great show as they engaged in a violent striking battle. Robbie Lawler did not waste any time as he constantly pushed Diaz behind and aggressively threw combinations.

After losing the rematch against Robbie Lawler, Nick Diaz gave his thoughts about the fight and issued a statement in the post-fight interview with Daniel Cormier. I’m glad at least I put on a show. I knew I had it coming, I had a lot of stress coming into this one. You know especially being off for a lot of time. And yeah I think I have no excuses I just had a lot of time off and I knew I had it coming.
Diablo also mentioned that he did not understand how this fight was set up and revealed that it caused a change in his management. Further, he gave credit to Robbie Lawler by crediting him for coming into this fight in great shape.
He also clarified his reason for not getting up after suffering a knockdown in the third round. “I knew I was leaking here, so I didn’t want to make too much of a mess. But I’m glad to be back and put on a show for you.
Despite losing the fight, Diaz received a lot of from the crowd present in the T-Mobile Arena. Regardless of what happens next, Nick Diaz has certified his place as one of the legends in this sport.
