Donovan Mitchell shared his respect towards Paolo Banchero and the Orlando Magic after their long series came to a conclusion. This was the only series in the first round that went down to a Game 7 as the Cavs finally emerged victorious.
Donovan Mitchell credits Evan Mobley and Issac Okoro for stopping Paolo Banchero
There is no denying that Paolo Banchero was the best player for the Orlando Magic and did his very best in order to lead his team to the second round of the playoffs. Paolo finished the night scoring an impressive 38 points and 16 rebounds. However, he made just 10 of 28 field goal attempts and was largely contained by the Cavs.
When asked about how the team feels about making it to the next round of the playoffs, Donovan Mitchell first gave credit to the Orlando Magic for putting up a fight and forcing a Game 7.
“Man I ain’t wanna go home to be honest with you. We worked so hard as a group. First of all, I want to give credit to the Magic man like…they got some dogs over there. Jamahl Mosley’s a phenomenal coach. They got some guys that can really go. Paolo Banchero is going to be a monster you know what I mean. So much respect to them, this wasn’t easy. It’s a lot of hard work put in….”
It is undoubtedly pleasing to see a star and his team show respect to the opponents that they had just eliminated from the playoffs. While the Cavaliers are allowed to celebrate briefly, they have a more difficult task at hand for the second round of the playoffs.
The Cavs will now face the Boston Celtics in the Eastern Conference semi-finals
It would be safe to claim that the Boston Celtics are favored to make it out of the Eastern Conference in this year’s playoffs. After all, the team managed to finish the regular season with the best record in the NBA and eliminated the Miami Heat in their first-round matchup within 5 games.
