WWE continued its great weekly programming on the latest episode of NXT, as the show was entertaining throughout the night. While there were a number of noteworthy moments on the May 28 edition of the yellow brand, the surprise debut of former AEW performer Ethan Page stood way above them all.
This 34-year-old star made his presence felt on the most recent episode of the promotion’s developmental territory and grabbed a lot of eyeballs due to his actions. The reason behind this is that Ethan made his debut by attacking Trick Williams, thus establishing himself as a heel. Page did it after the main event, in which the NXT Champion teamed up with Je’Von Evans to defeat Gallus.
As Trick was in the ring after the win, Lash Legend quickly ran into the ring and asked Williams if he was the one who attacked Noam Dar and Oro Mensah. But before the fan-favorite star could answer the question, the lights in the arena went down, and as soon as they lit up again, the WWE Universe received this surprise.

It was none other than Ethan Page who was standing behind Trick Williams as he attacked the 30-year-old superstar to instantly put himself in the main event scene on NXT. In fact, he also took credit for the attacks that were carried out, thus confirming that he’s a heel, as the May 28 edition of Tuesday’s show went off-air.

Claiming that this was the best edition of the yellow brand from 2024, someone from the pro wrestling community said, “This is legit the best episode all year!” “ALL EGO IS NXT! Holy shit,” another fan commented after what Ethan did to Trick Williams on the May 28 NXT episode, and it seems that Page’s debut is all what the fans wanted to happen.
A look at Ethan Page’s professional wrestling career
While the majority of WWE fans have been left excited with the debut of Ethan Page, there are also people who don’t know much about the 6-foot-2 in-ring performer. For such pro wrestling enthusiasts, it’s important to point out that Ethan has been active in the industry since the mid-2000’s and already has 18 years of experience.
The 34-year-old made his professional debut back in 2006 and competed across a variety of promotions until 2014, after which he signed with Ring of Honor. As he made his debut for ROH, he started getting a lot more recognition, and it led him to Impact Wrestling, as he started appearing in the promotion in late 2017.
In 2019, Ethan reunited with Josh Alexander, who was his tag team partner in the independent circuit, as they formed The North. Just months after joining forces, this duo won the Impact World Tag Team Championship in July. After retaining the titles for over a year, they were able to win them again, but lost sooner than expected, as The Good Brothers dethroned them.

Soon after this, Ethan Page left the promotion and joined All Elite Wrestling. Making his debut for the Tony Khan-led promotion in March 2021, he continued using the same ring name. Quickly in his AEW career, he aligned himself with Scorpio Sky, as they formed a tag team. After being in tag team action for over a year, he joined The Firm in October 2022.
Over the next year, he challenged for the AEW World Trios Championships as well as the World Championship, but ended up losing both opportunities. In September 2023, he officially moved to Ring of Honor, where he started off with a 5-match winning streak. But he wasn’t able to carry on the momentum, and in May 2024, his profile was officially removed from their website
Just weeks after this, Ethan has now joined WWE by making his debut in the company’s developmental territory. As he attacked Trick Williams, it’s likely that he is going to go after the NXT Championship, but it remains to be seen how exactly this storyline turns out to be. Also, it’ll be interesting to see if Page can revolutionize his professional career in the Stamford-based promotion or not.
