Just over a month ago, Caitlin Clark appeared on the Pat McAfee Show to about her life and the W with the man himself. Since then, Clark has made his professional debut with the Indiana Fever and despite having a rough start, she’s been doing great things. But there is no denying that Clark is responsible for putting the WNBA on the map once again. And most of her peers aren’t happy that she’s getting the praise and attention that she is.
McAfee recently addressed his take on Clark’s impact on the league and whether her race has to do with anything. He said, “What we’re trying to say is, what the WNBA currently has is what we like to describe as a cash cow. There is a superstar. But I would like the media people that continue to say, ‘This rookie class, this rookie class.’ Nah, just call it for what it is. There is one white b***h for the Indiana team who is a superstar.” Obviously, his comments struck a nerve with various supporters and he received a lot of backlash.
Pat McAfee personally apologizes to Caitlin Clark
Having realized the magnitude of his comments, Pat McAfee immediately took to social to clarify the intention behind his comments. He said, “I shouldn’t have used “white b***h” as a descriptor of Caitlin Clark. No matter the context.. even if we’re talking about race being a reason for some of the stuff happening.. I have way too much respect for her and women to put that into the universe.”

He added, “My intentions when saying it were complimentary just like the entire segment but, a lot of folks are saying that it certainly wasn’t at all. That’s 100% on me and for that I apologize… I have sent an apology to Caitlin as well.” Even though McAfee’s words were poorly chosen, his take on what Clark means to the WNBA still stands strong amongst several other media personalities.
Fellow media figures slam Pat McAfee for his careless comments
Multiple former and current ESPN staffers slammed Pat McAfee for carelessly using his words while describing Caitlin Clark. “This is just completely unacceptable. Interested to see how ESPN handles it. And his entire argument is not conducive to anything going on in the WNBA right now. Just let the women hoop,” said Kim Adams, who currently serves as an analyst on ESPN.

This isn’t the first time McAfee has gotten into trouble for something he’s said. McAfee and Aaron Rodgers previously suggested that late-night talk show host, Jimmy Kimmel was possibly named on the Jeffrey Epstein list. Pat eventually apologized to Kimmel after he threatened to sue him.
