Cody Rhodes was attacked by Solo Sikoa’s faction after his victory at Clash at the Castle, and The American Nightmare sought answers on WWE SmackDown. After a verbal encounter, the fan-favorite star faced Solo Sikoa in the main event of the show, but the match saw interference from The Bloodline, after which Randy Orton and Kevin Owens made their presence felt.
After this, the baby faces seemed like they had the upper hand in the brawl, as Rhodes had Solo in a corner. But, out of nowhere, Jacob Fatu made his WWE debut by attacking Cody Rhodes. The Samoan Werewolf first cleared the ring and then went all over Rhodes to make an instant impact among fans present for Friday’s show in Chicago.
Jacob even took Cody through the announce table by hitting a top rope splash, and it injured The American Nightmare. This news was revealed by the fan-favorite superstar himself, as he shared it during Saturday’s live event in Bloomington. He shared that Fatu’s attack on him during the final moments of SmackDown broke two of his ribs.
This announcement by the Undisputed WWE Champion shows how Fatu’s attack was brutal. But, as Rhodes was a part of the recent live event, it seems like the injury is not that major, and Cody can continue performing on TV. Thus, it’ll be interesting to see the path this storyline between Cody Rhodes and The Bloodline takes in the coming weeks.
WWE Universe reacts to Cody Rhodes’ injury
As soon as Cody Rhodes’ comments about broken ribs grabbed the attention of the audience, the WWE Universe started reacting to the promo. Sharing how this isn’t that surprising, a member of the pro wrestling community said, “Not surprised that splash through the table was rough.” (Via: X)
Another fan commented, “Really hope that’s kayfabe.” “Praying that’s a work man,” someone wrote while pointing out how this is probably a part the ongoing storyline. “This is definitely a work. He wouldn’t be cleared if his ribs were broken,” an enthusiast of wrestling said while sharing how Cody wouldn’t have got clearance to fight with such an injury.
Cody Rhodes’ isn’t the only fan-favorite star Jacob Fatu assaulted on SmackDown
It’s true that Jacob’s attack on Cody was the highlight of his debut on the latest episode of Friday’s show. But Cody Rhodes’ isn’t the only fan-favorite star Jacob Fatu assaulted on SmackDown, as another legend of the Triple H-led promotion was a victim of The Samoan Werewolf’s dominance on SmackDown.
The superstar in question is none other than Randy Orton, as Jacob Fatu also speared The Viper through the barricade. Even though no reports about an injury to The Legend Killer have been shared, the way that spot was executed was brutal. As everyone knows how vicious Orton can be, it’ll be interesting to see what he has in store for Jacob after being attacked by him on the blue brand.
