Daniil Medvedev is among the few top-ranked players who follow an unconventional style on the court. He has been on tour since 2014 and has been a consistent performer since 2017. Medvedev is leading the tour this season with 66 victories in 81 matches. He has reached nine finals and has five of them. Medvedev is currently playing at the Nitto ATP Finals.

There are many reasons why he has been successful on the tour. Medvedev’s stroke-making makes players hesitant to attack as he does not have a readable pattern. The opponent’s energy is drained as a change of strategy doesn’t do any good against Medvedev. The Russian’s racket plays a vital role in his game.
Daniil Medvedev finding comfort in Tecnifibre
Medvedev uses a Tecnifibre TFight ISO 305 racket. Like his fellow players, he uses a customized version suited to his needs. Medvedev earlier used the Wilson Six One 95, which was more heavy with a head-light player frame.

The former world No.1 is not planning to change the rackets as he has spent much time choosing the right one. He has been consistently playing with the Tecnifibre Dynacore 305. The propertiary weighting system differs from Tecnifibre and Medvedev’s earlier Wilson racket.
Daniil Medvedev’s latest strings and racket tension
Medvedev has been using the razor-soft strings of Tecnifibre since this season. He had used razor code earlier and found more comfort in the soft version. It gave more power to his strokes without affecting the consistency and control. The 27-year-old credited his latest strings while winning his first clay title at the Rome Masters 1000 in May this season.
The 2021 US Open champion uses an 18×19 string pattern with a standard tension of 50 lbs. The balance of the racket falls within the 32 cm range. It took time for Tecnifibre to create a racket that suited his unorthodox shotmaking. It was a complex situation for Tecnifibre but managed to bring out the perfect fit for Medvedev.
Daniil Medvedev needed dynamic control in racket
The world No.3 and his team along with Tecnifibre made the changes in the racket in a lab in Paris. The team analyzed Medvedev’s playing style. It was decided that he needed a racket with dynamic control. The T-Fight 305 weighs around 305 grams. It has a 98-square-inch head size. The racket provides a balance for Medvedev which helps him turn into defense into offense.
The geometrical composition allows a part of the racket for maximum control and less power. While the other half allows for more power and less control. This allows Medvedev to stand far from the baseline and use as much as power he wants in the rallies.
