Rafael Nadal or better known to the world as the ‘King of Clay’ is regarded as one of the most stable and mentally focused athletes on the ATP Tour.
The acclaimed “underdog” of tennis is not one to run away from a challenge and is applauded for his ruggedness in sticking to his level-best performance despite having the odds against him.
It is a known fact that Rafa does not disclose intimate details about his personal life to the media but keeps his fans in the loop by updating them on any life-changing dynamics.
During the period when Nadal was dating his now-wife, Maria Perello, he was stunned and agitated by a question posed to him by a reporter.
In a post-match interview, a news reporter stated how relationships pose a destructive element when competing in sports and presented him with the question of how his concentration has been different in tennis life. Amazed by the question, Rafa was quick to answer his queries saying “Honestly? Are you asking me this? Is this a serious question or a joke?”
He further added by quoting “I’m surprised you asked me this after being with the same girl for 15 years and I’m having a very stable and normal life. It doesn’t matter if you put a ring on your finger or not in my personal way.”
Rafa did not apply the brakes there as he further went on to mock the reporter who presented him with this silly question asking “How many has it been for you (being married).” and later concluded by saying “Okay we move to Spanish because that’s bullshit (the question).”
Nadal is currently taking time off from tennis and recovering from a hip injury that reoccurred and hindered his performance at the Australian Open in 2023.
The Spanish tennis professional later married his long-time girlfriend Maria Perello in 2019, with whom he has always shared a caring and loving relationship.
