With December rolling around, the date for the Meteora World Tennis League is drawing closer. It promises to be an exciting tournament, with four days of top-class tennis. The crème de la crème of the tennis world is set to participate in this event, and it will be an exciting affair.
The World Tennis League (WTL) is a non-ATP/WTA-affiliated, mixed-gender team tournament. It is held in the United Arab Emirates and is only in its second edition. The inaugural event was played at the Coca-Cola Arena in Dubai, but this year it will be held at the Etihad Arena in Abu Dhabi.
What is the schedule for the World Tennis League?
The matches will be played over four days, starting on December 21st. The final match will be played on December 24th. There are four teams, namely, the Falcons, Eagles, Kites, and Hawks, with each side having four players. 16 ATP and WTA players will be participating in this spectacle of a tournament.
The matches will be played in a round-robin format, with one men’s singles, one women’s singles, and a mixed doubles match. Iga Swiatek, Caroline Garcia, Hubert Hurkacz, and Casper Ruud will represent the Hawks. They will take on the Falcons, consisting of Elena Rybakina, Leylah Fernandez, Taylor Fritz, and Miomir Kecmanovic, on Day 1.

The Eagles, comprised of Daniil Medvedev, Andrey Rublev, Mirra Andreeva, and Sofia Kenin, will also play on the first day. They will lock horns with the Kites, consisting of Aryna Sabalenka, Paula Badosa, Stefanos Tsitsipas, and Grigor Dimitrov.
Day 2 will be just as exciting as the first, as the Falcons will play against the Kites, followed by the Hawks taking on the Eagles. The last day of the round-robin matches will see the Eagles take on the Falcons and the Hawks play the Kites. Only the top two teams will qualify for the finals, which will be played on December 24th.
The WTL promises more than just tennis
As mentioned, the WTL will be more than just a tennis tournament. The organizers have ensured that the spectators will have an incredible time on match days.
Artists such as 50 Cents, Akon, and Ne-Yo are set to perform each day, following the matches. The event hosts are calling it the ‘Greatest Show on Court,’ and rightfully so.

Tennis players are gearing up for this spectacle of a tournament. The Hawks walked away with the trophy last year; can they repeat it this year too? We will soon find out.
