Serbian tennis star Novak Djokovic is well-known for his sense of humor. In addition to being one of the best players in the sport, he has a funny side too. It is on display quite often, as it was during an interview with Grigor Dimitrov at the BNP Paribas Open.
The old clip from 2014 has recently resurfaced on social media. Dimitrov was fielding questions from journalists after defeating Robin Haase 6-4, 6-3 in the second round. Djokovic was nearby when he overheard a part of the conversation and decided to join in.
A hilarious conversation ensued as Grigor played along with the charade of Djokovic being a journalist. Novak, who is a good friend of Maria Sharapova and has often impersonated her for fun, brought up her relationship with Grigor. “What’s your favorite Sugarpova candy?” Djokovic asked Dimitrov. “Flirty sour,” replied the Bulgarian player without missing a beat.

The duo stars did not just talk about Sharapova, though. Novak brought up Grigor’s dashing looks and declared that he was the “best-looking guy on the tour.”
Grigor Dimitrov and Novak Djokovic met in the finals of the Paris Masters last night. This old clip is a throwback to one of the most memorable moments the two players shared. Grigor‘s relationship with Maria was well documented, and they were the ‘It’ couple of tennis at the time.
Why did Grigor Dimitrov and Maria Sharapova split up?
Sharapova was already a decorated player when she started dating the rising star, Dimitrov. The two hit off immediately, and there was no looking back for either of them since.
Maria got into the finer details of how she met Grigor in her autobiography, Unstoppable. She recounted a few instances of their budding romance. What she also recorded in her autobiography was the reason for their eventual breakup.
Grigor dated Maria between 2013 and 2015, and they went public with their relationship after the Madrid Open. Sharapova confessed in her book that she was unprepared for a relationship at the time. Moreover, the timing was not right, and it was hampering Sharapova’s performance.
The pair eventually decided to go their separate ways during the 2015 Wimbledon championship. “His good memory was my bad memory. What meant everything to him happened only because I had lost,” she wrote in the book.
Since then, Maria has retired from the sport as a legend of the game, with five Grand Slam titles to her name. Grigor Dimitrov is currently scripting his resurgence in tennis. He was last seen at the Paris Masters, where Novak defeated him in straight sets.
